By default, the federal and state returns e-files are created simultaneously. You can "unlink" the state return and file it before or after filing the federal return.
To unlink the state:
- Add state forms to the return.
- Locate the Do you want to electronically file this return? section (will appear in red) on the state form.
- The second line reads Check here if you want to file this return as unlinked; check that box
Run diagnostics, and create the e-file for both federal and state returns. When transmitting returns, both will be active to send.
NOTE: Bank Products can not be done for state-only returns and require a federal return for submission.
